Our Mini casksWE MAKE
WHAT WE LOVE

Mumbles Brewery beers are available to enjoy at home in 5 litre (8.799 pints) mini casks. The casks contain the same beer that you get in the pub, complete with the live yeast for an authentic real ale experience.

Unlike some other mini casks ours are unfiltered, un-pasteurised and un-compromised.

As such they need you to exercise a little more care to enjoy them fully. The instructions are as follows.

01. Position your cask

Position your mini cask in a cool place where you will be able to allow it to settle and remain unmoved until empty. This is because the cask contains live yeast which needs to settle to the bottom of the cask. Moving the cask will disturb the yeast. Do not store your beer in the fridge as this can induce chill haze.

02. Turning the red tap

The live yeast is still working in the cask and producing CO2, or condition, in the beer. This needs to be vented before the beer can be dispensed by turning the red tap on the top of the cask. A small amount of beer may also emerge and this is normal. The tap must be kept in the open position during beer pouring to allow air in to replace the beer.

03. Dispensing tap

The dispensing tap should be opened as soon as you have positioned your cask. This is because this action can disturb the yeast. Pull down the black tab and pull out the red tap. The tap should remain in the withdrawn position all the time.

04. Rotating the tap

The beer should have settled within 24 hours. The beer is poured by rotating the tap to open it. The first small amount of beer may be a little cloudy but should soon clear. Discard this small quantity if you wish. The beer should be consumed within 3-4 days. Enjoy your beer and please put the empty cask in with your canned recyclables.
